Factual Story

• Factual involves passages based on non fiction topics which is informative in nature.
• Story involves passages based on fiction tales.

Core learning:

• Comprehending direct answers.
• Framing indirect answers.
• Answering questions based on understanding the passage.
• Application of better vocabulary.

 
II] GRAMMAR

• Nouns [proper, common, gender [masculine and feminine]
• Singular and plural [s, es, ies, ves, irregular]
• Verbs
• Adjectives
• Tenses [ simple]
• Adverbs
• Pronouns
• Prepositions
• Conjunctions

 
Understanding of grammar in sentences:
       - ​Mother took Sam to the park.
       - ​Mother took Sam to the park.

[Understanding usage of proper noun as a part of punctuations].

Use of adjectives:
       - ​Mary watches cartoons.
       - ​Mary watches funny cartoons.

The concept of applying adjectives to speaking and writing sentences is taught along with the topic.
 
III] CREATIVE WRITING SKILLS

1] Vocabulary words - Replacing basic words and learning new words
       - ​Happy – cheerful
       - ​​Tina is a cheerful girl.
       - ​Many- several
       - ​I have several wonderful toys.
2] Similes - Basic learning of similes followed by application:
       - ​The tree is tall.
       - ​The tree is as tall as a tower.
       - ​The child is happy
       - ​The adorable child is as happy as a lark.
       - ​The adorable child is as cheerful as a lark.

NOTE : Please note , it is imperative for the children to read the creative writing books minimum thrice a week to ensure they are able to grasp and enhance the language learnt in class.
 
Opening the book right before the assessment will not work to see a great enhancement in your writing skills. [Unfortunately, it does not work like Aladdin’s magic lampJ]
 
Every week the children are provided with one creative writing assignment which is required to be submitted in the following week for evaluation. Ensure regular submission of the writing assignment so that the child does not find it burdensome and monotonous.
