“Bomb !” I squealed in terror as I beheld the atramentous bag with four red wires connected to a time bomb. My heart palpitated against my frail chest. A million notions raced through my ingenious mind as the time bomb ticked petulantly. A I swerved through the train compartment and reached the red alarm button. I pressed the button and pulled the chain with all my might. The train halted with a jerk. Everyone gasped. I dashed towards my bag and called the police. They were alarmed and notified the bomb squad promptly. My true blue comrade , Kelly and I decided to evacuate the train as rapidly as lightning. Kelly quickly got hold of the speaker. We announced, “ Please do not panic and help us in this situation by cooperating. One person from each compartment will coordinate with Kelly. Kelly sprinted like a deer through all the compartments without creating a pandemonium. The bomb has a screen which displayed 10:00. It was only these 10 minutes that we had to maybe transform our lives or bite the dust. We were on pins and needles. As soon as the train which was as long as a snake, was evacuated. Kelly and I picked the black bag out of the train. Our heart was in our mouth as our hands and legs quivered like jelly. We got out of the train and hurled the bag on the platform. The bag fell with a “ Thud !” In the nick of time, the police arrived with the bomb squad. Soon the experts had resolved a way to defuse the indignant bomb which was ticking like an alarm ready to ring. While the expert was gearing up to cut the wire, our hearts pounded rapidly. Perspiration adorned our forehead and a chill ran down everyone’s spine.
The repulsive beeping halted and everyone squealed in exhilaration and capered with joy. In a couple of moments the astronomical station was filled with vociferous torrents of applaud. Kelly and I felt as proud as peacocks. We were praised by the police and the bomb squad for reporting the menace and saving the day.
The next morning we awoke to the jubilant chirps of the birds and were in the seventh heaven to see our names printed in bold letters on the front page of the newspaper. We were due to receive a scintillating gold medals for being valiant an d for our brilliant presence of mind.
