By Vihaan [Grade 5]

I was blithe to go home. It was getting late. The sky had become atramentous [ black/dark] . I walked down the road quietly. I thought something was following me. I heard a hissing sound.
Picture
I turned around in a jiffy . I saw a black snake with golden spots covering its entire body. I saw it with my naked eye. I was petrified and my knees shook like jelly. I darted like a cheetah  but I soon got lost and reached a dead end. As the Viper reached my stand, I made a quick decision and went into the woods. There were lots of creepy crawlies over there Hanging on the trees were shadows which howled. There were strident voices and shrieks of birds and animals. The hoot hoot of the owls and the sounds of the vulture petrified me. Then, I saw a volery of birds with sharpened beaks flying towards me. As fast as lightning, I darted and took a turn. Then I saw the viper. Its eyes looked into mine, its head slightly moving side by side. I couldn’t move. I stood there as the snake approached me. I heard  a wolf howl as a full moon appeared. The golden spots glistened on the snake’s body. I had no choice, I jumped and sprinted into a house on my left at the last moment and my head and my leg started to bleed. It would leave a big scar. I couldn’t watch the gross sight as the Viper was being eaten by something grisly. I hid behind a wall. After a few minutes, the screeching noises stopped. I went outside and a pile of bones was scattered on the path. I couldn’t see the gruesome sight and my forehead was buzzing with the scar. I felt dizzy. I fell down, unconscious. I woke up with a start at 2 :00 in the morning on my bed sweating from head to toe. I realized why I had seen this nightmare. I had seen this  a horror movie and had bumped head in my school on the edge of a bench. But there was something on my leg. There was a cut on my leg which was bleeding. Something surely wasn’t right. I fell down on my downy pillow and started to snore right away. I went to sleep not caring about the cuts on my leg as my entire body was aching.

The scintillating yellow orb was hanging in the prodigious sky like a picture frame. The Earth bathed in rosy warm glow. The mellifluous chirps of the volery of birds was music to everyone’s ears.

My parents were geared up to depart for an event but unfortunately, I couldn’t accompany them as I was under the weather. I was left to my own devices. To kill time, I nestled in a cozy corner of my room with my nose in a book to enlighten my ravenous mind. The book was so intriguing that I did not realize where time flew. It was evening already and the sun called it a day. The moon took its place and cast its silvery light. The sky was overwhelmed with gleaming stars . The wind whistled and the robust, towering trees swayed like a group of dexterous dancers. In the lonesome crepuscule night, fear stroked down my spine as I discerned shadows dancing across the wall. I was aghast as none of them were mine. Out of the blue, the room was encompassed with smoke and it became arduous to see things around me.
As soon as the smoke settled , a lady appeared in front of me. She had pale green skin with tiny eyes and a long pointy nose like Pinnochio’s. A black hat sat on her head. I gawked in bewilderment as I beheld a witch in front of me. She said in an eerie , squeaky voice, “ Well, looks like I found a scrumptious meal for tonight. Now, I will take you home with me, chop you into pieces and throw ypu in a pot of broiling water.” She began cackling stridently. I broke into a cold sweat and my heart was pounding rapidly against my frail chest. I ran towards the door but it slammed on my face. I began bellowing for help and I panicked.
In the nick of time, my mother woke me up. I heaved a sigh of relief as it dawned upon me that it was a nightmare. This nightmare will be etched in my mind for eternity.

One scorching afternoon when I was as busy as a bee doing my lengthy homework in my room, a strident scream from outside the window reached my ears. Curiously I……threw the elephantine window ajar. Once more, the obstreperous and blood curdling sound greeted my ears. I resolved to venture out and verify the cause. After arming myself with my amiable grandfather’s walking stick he and torch, I followed the screeching sound. It seemed to come from a clump of lush trees from my gargantuan backyard. I pondered and kept guessing who was screaming for aid. My heart beat  kept on increasing as I neared the clump  of trees. I bellowed, “ Who is that ?” on the top of my voice but my  screeches fell on  everybody’s deaf ears. I felt like whisking away from this tenebrous place but I did not move and kept shouting. Out of the blue, I remembered my teacher , Ms. Kavita’s exasperated face and sprinted like lightning towards my monotonous homework. As soon as I sat down to complete my homework, tranquilness had fainted, as a strident scream was heard behind my shoulder and I turned as cadaverous as a ghost and caprioled out of my skin. I, trying to be a little gallant turned behind and was awe struck to find a vibrant, colourful  and ravishing parrot right behind me. First I could not fathom what had happened. Then, I ogled at the ajar window and could comprehend that the parrot had  flown in when I was out. It had come inside in avarice. There was a guava kept on my bed which had attracted its attention. I was mesmerised and influenced by the ability of a parrot to screech “ Help !” That was truly amazing.

The lambent yellow orb was spreading its calescent rays  enveloping the whole mother nature. Everyone was perspiring like a river.
The towering trees covering the gargantuan land felt  as cool as cucumbers, The euphonic chirps of the congregation of birds was music to everyone’s ears. The gentle breeze caressed everyone’s face like a gentle hand of a mother.
That jubilant  day, my companions Joey and his beloved brother Micheal had a frolicking weekend where they went on a small excursion to a dense forest.
They departed for the picnic with some lip smacking edibles , The journey offered pulchritudinous scenery which was a colossal treat for their eyes. They cracked funny jokes and had a whale of a time. At last, they reached their destination late in the night when the sky was atramentous. So they lit a bonfire and commenced to make their tent.
They made their tent and ate some delectable sandwiches, cutlets etc. As they were frazzled , they hit the bed and were out like a light. Next morning, they woke up with wide grins on their cherubic faces ,brushed their teeth and directly went for a serene stroll in the monumental forest. They sauntered inside to see the placid surroundings and bewitching shrubs and trees which were as tall as skyscrapers. Everything was captured in their minds like a camera
After sometime, they didn’t realise that they had forgotten the way to their tent and became anxious. They were petrified and millions of questions surged through their mind.
Felicitously, ambling forward, they found a straight path and they heaved a sigh of relief. Walking forward till the end of the road, they were greeted by the sight of a unique looking house from where green smoke was coming out from the chimney. So they resolved to go in and check although they knew they were walking on thin ice.
As they went inside, they saw that an aged man was there in the house who was experimenting with some chemicals and got to know that he was a scientist who had come for some research.
They went inside and talked to him to lend them a helping hand as they had lost their route to their tent and car. So the old man who had a heart of gold helped them to get their way back to the tent. When they reached the tent, they were very grateful to him and gave him some food as a gift as they had nothing else to offer him.

It was a fatiguing day in the hustle and bustle of the streets. The sun decided to call it a day while the moon was gearing up to spread its scintillating light on the mother earth.
I was just coming from a party. We had painted the town red there. It was one of the best parties I had ever gone for and it would be etched in my brain like a scar. By the time the party ended, it was already two in the morning. The streets looked like a deserted place. Out of the blue, I heard a screech. I decided to follow the noise even though I knew that I was walking on thin ice.
After following the noise for sometime, I came to an isolated playground and saw two reddish eyes in the atramentous corner of the playground gawking at me. I was on pins and needles but I gathered up courage to check out  what kind of creature was there gazing at me.
When I went near it, it suddenly disappeared . When I turned back, a shiver ran through my body as I saw the same draconian eyes. It had two limbs and hands like a human but there was fur on its body and it had a long tail. It would be a repulsive sight for any human . I decided to sprint as fast as lightning to prevent the creature from harming me.
After running for about a mile, I saw that the creature was no longer chasing me. His body reminded me of a werewolf. I decided to call the police to catch the creature. As soon as I called the police, the creature pounced on me.
I woke up with a thud and then heard the mellifluous voice of my mother asking, “ What happened ?” I answered nothing. The repugnant scene of the werewolf turned out to be a nightmare. I was grateful to the almighty that this incident didn’t turn out to be true. I will never forget this nightmare and it still gives me the creeps.

One ravishing Sunday morning, the golden orb blazed like  a yellow sapphire cheering up gloomy mother nature. It was  a cherished day as everyone is as free as rodents out of traps.
Picture
Two young lads who were as adorable as teddy bears but puckish were going to Jefferson Park to boast off their new bicycles. Their names were Henry and Ravi. Ravi had bats in his belfry and told Henry to have a race with their bicycles and dash all the pedestrians walking in their way. They were blithe as they were surrounded  by luscious greenery. With exhilaration , they started riding their bicycles. They started to ride them in full speed to win they race. They did not use any brakes and rode the bicycles non stop. Henry lost control and fell on Ravi and they rammed into a tree. Everybody around gathered near Henry and Ravi. Their parents were informed about the incident and were rushed to the hospital. They were injured badly with deep scratches. After a month, they were as fit as a fiddle. They learnt a lesson never to walk  on thin ice or they would be in hot water.

The constellation of scintillating stars departed welcoming the colossal blistering orb with open arms. The euphonic chirps of the volery of birds resonated in my ears like music.

Today was my last day of practising steps as the next day  was my dance competition. My teacher , Ms.Pranjali is going to teach me all the steps as a revision. I woke up at the crack of dawn, I wore my costume . My costume was a pink dress with luminous stars with a head gear and I sprinted like a deer  to the dance competition hall. I was the 12th candidate. There were three jubilant judges. Finally my chance arrived and I grabbed  the spotlight and danced nicely . The judges had a wide grin plastered on their cherubic faces. There was  trophy which was fulgid and covered with gold, a medal and a certificate. The results came and I had butterflies in my stomach . My body was full of perspiration , my heart skipped a beat and my palms were sweating as the wet floor on a rainy day. The judges earnestly announced the names and I had won the first prize. I was on cloud nine and my heart brimmed with ecstasy. I had burnt the midnight oil and won an attractive trophy. I was as proud as a peacock and went back home with good memories. My teacher, Ms. Pranjali who was my stepping stone for this trophy was also jubilant. I gifted her something which she wanted , a new pair of shoes and I bought one for me too. My mom and dad also showered me with presents and this was my memorable day.

It was a pleasant Sunday morning when the radiant  sun was gleaming like a gemstone in the sky which was as clear as a crystal. The sonorous chirps of splendid birds resonated everywhere.
Picture
My siblings and I were feeling monotonous so to cheer us up, our father said that since today is a holiday let us go  to a fun fair in Bandra. Everybody squealed in delight.
We rapidly got dressed and were ready to go to the fun fair. When we reached the fun fair, our father stood in a queue which was as long as a snake and as straight as an arrow to purchase the tickets. Then we entered the fun fair. We first saw a rollercoaster ride and sat on it. We had fun. Then we saw a  well and in the  front of the well, there was a board that board said that “ This is a wishing well put a 5 rupee coin in the well and wish for what you want.” We dropped a 5 rupee coin and wished for each other. Then we were exhausted. We purchased some candies. Our mother had  packed some scrumptious food and juice. After the heavy meal, we went for more rides. Time flew like a bird, it was evening. We had to leave the fun fair. We left the with a heavy heart but with memorable memories. I was as happy as a child in a candy store and eager to visit the fun fair again.

The scintillating yellow orb illuminated the surroundings which became as hot as a furnace. The yellow orb was relishing playing hide and seek with the clouds. It was enshrouding behind the clouds which were as fluffy as a bale of cotton and as white as snow.
The sky was prodigious. The dulcet chirps of the volery of birds reverberated everywhere and was music to  everyone’s ears. The gentle breeze caressed my face and neck like a mother’s gentle hand. I was returning from school jubilantly as it was a Friday. My parents had resolved to go to a Fun fair the following  day. I was zealous and slept like a log at night. I woke up at the crack of dawn. My mother packed some scrumptious and lip smacking snacks which made my mouth drool  like a waterfall. I packed some chocolates and my I pad. Since the fun fair was not a stone’s throw away, it took an hour for us to reach. When we reached our destination, the alluring beauty of the funfair captured my eyes. I resolved to sit on the best ride when out of the blue, there was a huge thud sound. I witnessed that there was a mishap of a myriad of people sitting on a ride. The ride had fallen down due to some problem in the engine. The people of the funfair had called for ambulances for the treatment of the people who were in excruciating pain due to their injuries.
That deplorable memory was etched in  my  mind like a scar. From that day, I resolved to be careful at all times.

One Sunday morning, the gigantic fireball pranced across the prodigious sky. Sunday is a day that is cherished by everyone. All the children are rats out of their traps  as it is a holiday. Young lads become as frolicsome as kittens. Two boys named Ram and Lakshman had bought new bicycles. They resolved to meet after their studies. As soon as they finished their studies , they darted swiftly with their cycles to the park. Ram had reached there in the nick of time while Lakshman came late. They both were as cunning as foxes and resolved to boast off.  Ram told his cycle is better than Lakshman and they began quarrelling like cats and dogs. They rode their bicycles swiftly. They tried to push each other but failed to. They lost control and banged into a tree. They panicked and fell off. They started sobbing like babies. The pedestrians lent them a helping hand . They assisted them to go to their abode. Their mothers were like  cats on hot bricks and promptly took them to the doctor. He told that they had sustained grave injuries and had to be on the fleecy bed  to recover fast. Soon they were as fit as a fiddle and exercised caution when they played. They had learnt  their lesson that never to be clumsy.
