Since donkey’s years , Mumbai has known and grown to be renowned as a hub for hawkers selling scrumptious food. This food is highly threatening to human health as all the ingredients utilised is kept in unsuitable conditions where mice or mosquitoes evolve provoking perilous diseases. Too add fuel to the fire , it is cooked in an open environment exposed to dust, pollution, insects and mosquitoes thereby inviting a plethora of germs to be added in the food as special ingredients. This food is highly contaminated to be consumed by the human body. The hawkers who make the food are themselves not hygienic let alone the repugnant surroundings around them. Their hands are highly littered with either, sweat or urine and perhaps not even washed since over several hours . A myriad of hawkers still continue to prepare and sell food without gloves which makes the food inedible due to unhygienic reasons. The food they serve is deprived of any nutritional value. In the light of the hawkers spending exorbitant amounts to set up their business, the B.M.C. officials are accountable to keep a check on the quality of food served by these hawkers since the lives of copious human beings lies in their hands. Draconian action should be taken against vendors who do not follow essential hygine standards while preparing food. Regular checks should be conducted to ensure that hawkers serve food which is a scrumptious treat for our taste buds and not an invitation to diseases.
I hope through this letter of mine , the concerned authorities take expeditious action to look into this grim matter at the earliest.
